Then VASER probe is inserted for liquefying the fat which also helps in retracting the skin. Buccal fat removal removes the buccal fat pad which is a natural pad of fat present in the hollow areas of the cheek. The size of buccal fat varies from patient to patient and it is different in each cheek. Buccal fat removal is done in those people whose chin are thin and narrow and it may look ugly. Buccal fat removal is a surgical method to make the cheeks look slimmer; it can be performed alone or in combination with other facial procedures to give a natural and a contoured shape to the face. Buccal fat pad removal procedure can be combined with other cosmetic facial procedures like facial implants, liposuction of chin or facelift surgery.
Buccal surgery is done under local anaesthesia and it is done within one hour. 1 to 2 cm long incision is made between your cheek and gums above the upper second molar towards the back of the mouth. Then gently thumb pressure is applied from outside under the cheekbone due to which the buccal fat comes out through the incision. Forceps and surgical tweezers are used gently for extracting the fat. Remaining buccal fat is replaced to its original site. Dissolvable sutures are used for closing the incision. You will see the final result of the buccal fat removal in 3 months till all swelling subsides. You will need to rest for a day. You will have some swelling for a week which will go away with time.
